Monster Hunter Wilds Set for Price Drop

Getting into Monster Hunter Wilds is about to become much simpler. Capcom has announced plans to streamline the game’s purchasing options nearly a year and a half after its launch. This will include a new definitive version packed with extras and a price drop for the standard edition.

The changes to the current purchase options for Monster Hunter Wilds were shared on social media. Right now, players can choose from the base game, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe editions, along with a Cosmetic DLC Pass that unlocks various in-game skins and customization features. Starting on Aug. 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET, these editions will be phased out.

Capcom will replace the existing bundles with three new options alongside the base game. The Extras Cosmetic DLC pack will combine several paid cosmetics that were previously sold separately. The Cosmetic DLC Collection will include 10 DLC packs, encompassing everything in the Extras Pack. Additionally, a new Gold edition will launch, bundling the base game with all content from the Cosmetic DLC Collection. All previous premium bonuses from the Premium Deluxe edition will also be included in the Gold edition.

Pricing details for the Gold edition and the new cosmetic bundles have yet to be revealed. To align with these new offerings, Capcom has confirmed that the base game will see a permanent price reduction starting on Aug. 4. While the exact amount of the cut hasn’t been specified, the game currently retails for $69.99. Historically, Capcom has offered substantial discounts, so the base game could drop to somewhere between $40 and $50, although this remains unconfirmed. This could make the Gold Edition priced similarly to the current base game, providing an incentive for players to consider the $69.99 option.

Monster Hunter Wilds has become Capcom’s fastest-selling game ever, with 8 million copies sold within just three days of its release. While the game has garnered popularity, the latest installment in the series has sparked mixed reactions among both new and veteran fans. In a review, it was noted that “Monster Hunter Wilds is undoubtedly a step forward in many respects, with the technical aspects becoming increasingly impressive. However, there’s a sense that the core identity of the series is starting to fade.” A paid expansion, Ascendance, is scheduled for release in 2027.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 in development.
