Google Images to Suggest Photos Before You Start Searching
Google is rolling out a significant update to the Google Images homepage to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Instead of the usual sparse page with just a search bar, the new homepage will showcase a variety of images tailored to your interests, even before you start searching.
The revamped “browseable” homepage will feature a “dynamic, immersive gallery of images from across the web,” which will be updated in real time to reflect your unique preferences. The layout is reminiscent of platforms like Pinterest and Imgur, where you can scroll through a multitude of images. Additionally, you’ll have the option to save images into collections for easy access later, with these collections appearing as tabs above the main feed.
The updated Google Images homepage is set to roll out in the coming weeks for signed-in desktop users in the US, specifically in English.
In another exciting development, Google Search will soon introduce the ability to generate images using its Nano Banana 2 Lite AI model. This feature will allow users to create visual representations for various concepts, such as home decor ideas. In demo prompts, Google suggests phrases like “help me visualize” or “create a visual” to initiate the image generation process. However, details on the specific prompts that trigger image creation and how the company ensures that AI-generated images are appropriate, especially regarding current events, are still pending clarification.
