God of War’s Laufey Star Responds to Sexist Trolls: “I’m Completely Unbothered”

God of War: Laufey has faced a wave of online backlash since its announcement last month, primarily because it marks the first entry in the series that doesn’t feature Kratos, the reformed bad dad, but instead focuses on his late wife, Faye, navigating the afterlife. Previous installments have established Faye as a formidable warrior, so I’m genuinely excited to see her take center stage. However, it seems that some critics are quick to shift their arguments whenever a woman leads a well-known franchise. So, how is Deborah Ann Woll, the voice and motion-capture actor for Faye, handling the negativity? It appears she’s managing quite well.

At Florida Supercon last weekend, Woll was engaging with fans and signing autographs as a featured guest. A TikToker named @quinnphobic attended the event and, after giving Woll letters and fan art, encouraged her to ignore the misogynistic comments online. It turns out, she’s already tuning most of it out.

“Honestly, I thought I would be more affected by it, but one, I’m not on social media, which helps, and two, I feel completely unbothered because I just know it’s great,” Woll shared. “It’s fine if it’s not your thing, but there’s no way it’s bad.”

Good for you, queen. God of War: Laufey is set to launch on PlayStation 5, and while a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, Santa Monica Studio has confirmed it will come with a physical disc, suggesting it will arrive before PlayStation phases out discs in 2028.
