Duskbloods Offers Souls Fans Their First Hands-On Experience with FromSoftware’s Switch 2 Exclusive
I’m all about Elden Ring Nightreign. If you had told me back when Elden Ring launched that I’d dive into a punishing, multiplayer roguelike from FromSoftware, I would have laughed it off. But somehow, their unique blend of chaotic mechanics and massive, grotesque bosses really clicks with me. Unfortunately, I’m nearing the end of my journey in Nightreign, as my team is wrapping up everything we wanted to tackle in the game. We’re on the lookout for our next adventure. If only FromSoftware had another multiplayer title on the horizon, and if only I could get a sneak peek to see if I want to invest another *checks Nightreign playtime* oh man, 150+ hours into it.
Well, guess what?
The Duskbloods is set to have a closed network test at the end of August. The key word here is “closed.” You can’t just jump in; you need to sign up with your Nintendo account between July 22 at 7 a.m. PT and July 28 at 6:59 a.m. PT. If you’re selected, you’ll find out on August 7 at precisely 6:00 a.m. PT and will receive a download code for the test. The actual network test will occur on specific dates and times for those chosen.
There are a few things to keep in mind. First off, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch 2, as that’s the only platform this game will be available on. Additionally, FromSoftware is putting a stop to anyone sharing screenshots or videos from The Duskbloods network test, even disabling the capture button on the Switch 2. I can’t imagine this will deter determined players from trying to capture or stream it anyway, but who knows.
It’s a bit odd to be excited about a network test, but I’m genuinely hoping to get in. Mostly, I still feel like I don’t have a solid grasp on what The Duskbloods is all about. I know it’s a vampire-themed game, sure. It’s also described as an action game like other FromSoftware titles, but it supports up to eight players in a mix of PvP and PvE. Players will engage in matches with different objectives based on their character’s history and traits, aiming to earn “Victory Points” to influence match outcomes. But honestly, I’m still a bit lost! What’s my role? Does this game feature a cryptic narrative told through item descriptions? Is it reminiscent of Bloodborne, or is it something entirely different? My curiosity is through the roof!
I’ll be signing up for the network test when the window opens next week, and I hope to come back after the test in August with insights on what it’s like to be a stylish FromSoftware vampire. We still don’t have a concrete release date for The Duskbloods, just a vague “2026” timeframe, but it’s safe to say it won’t be dropping in July or likely August. Maybe just in time for Halloween?
