GTA Online’s Latest Update Teems with Clues and Easter Eggs for GTA 6
There are some undeniable truths in the gaming world. Water is wet. The sky is blue. Death is inevitable. And whenever Rockstar Games drops new content, Grand Theft Auto fans dive in, eager to uncover hints about the much-anticipated GTA 6, set to launch on Xbox and PlayStation later this year. So, when the latest heist update for GTA Online introduced a slew of new paintings to steal and collect, fans quickly began to speculate about potential references to GTA 6.
On July 14, Rockstar rolled out a significant free update for GTA Online. The Kortz Center Heist update features a new art museum that players can raid solo or with friends to snag fresh pieces of art for sale or collection. It’s these new artworks that have piqued the interest of many GTA enthusiasts. Some believe that several of these paintings hint at the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 or other Rockstar titles. Unlike some wild theories floating around the community, I genuinely think that some of these paintings might be pointing toward GTA 6.
Take, for instance, a newly added painting called La Dernière Débauche. At first glance, it may just appear to depict some half-naked dancers. However, some fans argue that it subtly recreates the GTA 6 map. Normally, I’d be skeptical, but when you overlay the fan-created map from GTA 6 trailers with this painting, the similarities are striking. Could Rockstar be teasing fans?
Another intriguing piece is simply titled Trust. If you’ve watched the original GTA 6 trailer (and I have), you might recall that Lucia and Jason exchange the word “Trust” at the end. This connection gains traction as the painting shows someone robbing a café or diner, reminiscent of leaked GTA 6 footage from 2022 featuring the two characters in a similar heist scenario.
Beyond these speculative references, there’s a more blatant nod to the next installment. A new character introduced in this GTA Online update, expert art forger Yong-Rae, sports a T-shirt that boldly states “Art Oregano Vice City.” This seems to be Rockstar’s playful take on the renowned Art Basel art fair held annually in Miami. Could we see the Art Oregano fair in GTA 6? It’s a possibility. Additionally, Yong-Rae wears a necklace similar to one sported by Cal Hampton, a character featured in official GTA 6 trailers and artwork. Are these two connected, or is Rockstar simply reusing assets? Or perhaps it’s a clever tease for observant fans? Place your bets now.
One thing is clear: Rockstar is ramping up its references to GTA 6 within GTA Online. If there’s another major update before the launch of GTA 6 in November, which is likely based on past patterns, I can’t help but wonder if we’ll see even more explicit connections to the long-awaited sequel.
