Absolutely stunning!

The Criterion edition of del Toro’s *Frankenstein* will feature the film along with a 158-minute director’s cut titled *Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut*, which adds eight minutes of footage. It will also include the making-of documentary *The Anatomy Lesson: Director’s Cut*, a collection of interviews with the cast and crew, and more. The four-disc 4K Blu-ray set is priced at $59.95, the two-disc Blu-ray edition at $49.95, and the three-disc DVD version at $29.95. All three editions are available for preorder, currently at a 20% discount.

Mark your calendars for the release date of October 27.

While Netflix has been hesitant to release physical copies of its top titles, it has made exceptions for del Toro’s projects. His *Pinocchio* also received a Criterion release in 2023. Other directors have enjoyed similar treatment, with Criterion editions for Martin Scorsese’s *The Irishman*, Alfonso Cuarón’s *Roma*, Bong Joon-ho’s *Okja*, and Jane Campion’s *The Power of the Dog*. Criterion is also set to release *KPop Demon Hunters* physically.

*Frankenstein* is a faithful adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, telling the story of Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) as he brings a creature (Jacob Elordi) to life from a patchwork of body parts. The film premiered on Netflix on November 7, 2025, following a limited theatrical release. It has garnered positive reviews, currently holding an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Our review highlighted Elordi’s performance, stating, “He is by far the best thing about the movie.”

In addition to *Frankenstein*, Criterion has a lineup of other chilling films set for release in October, including *The Silence of the Lambs* and *The Shout*.
