Google Rebrands NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook

Google is rebranding its AI note-taking app, now officially known as Gemini Notebook. The change was announced recently, and while it will continue to function as a standalone app, it will also integrate more seamlessly with Gemini and Google Search.

Originally introduced as Project Tailwind in May 2023, Gemini Notebook quickly transitioned to a public release just a few months later. Over time, Google has enhanced the app with features designed to help users organize and interpret their notes. These include options to summarize notes into AI-generated podcasts, narrated slideshows, and short video clips reminiscent of TikTok. Users can also link their notebooks to the Gemini app, with plans to incorporate notebooks into the AI Mode of Search, which offers a chatbot-like experience.

In addition to the name change, an update is being rolled out that enables Gemini Notebook to connect to a secure cloud computer for writing and executing code. This feature is currently available to Google AI Ultra and Workspace business customers, with plans to extend it to Pro users on the web in the coming weeks.
