Adam Driver reportedly declines several Marvel Cinematic Universe roles.
The buzz in the gaming community is all about Adam Driver, known for his roles in Star Wars and Girls. Recent leaks suggest he’s being considered for not one, not two, but three villain roles in the upcoming X-Men reboot within the MCU. Fans are weighing in on which character would suit him best, but there’s a consensus that Driver would be an incredible addition to the franchise. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige shares this sentiment but admits that making it happen has been a challenge, despite his efforts.
In a chat with a podcast host, Feige revealed that it’s well-known he wants to collaborate with Driver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He mentioned that Driver has been in discussions for various MCU projects over the years, but ultimately, the actor has turned down every offer. Feige humorously noted, “It’s a tradition to Zoom with him, and then he passes.”
While neither party has confirmed it, reports suggest Driver was Marvel’s top choice for the role of Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. There are conflicting accounts about whether he declined early in the process or was close to final negotiations before the role went to Pedro Pascal.
Currently, Driver is at the center of a flurry of rumors regarding the long-anticipated X-Men film. It all started when one leaker claimed he had been cast as the main villain, followed by another source suggesting he would portray the iconic Magneto, a role previously played by Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender. However, the original leaker later clarified that Driver would actually take on the role of Mister Sinister. Another insider hinted that he might instead be playing William Stryker, the antagonist from the classic X-Men storyline “God Loves, Man Kills,” a character that has appeared in several of the Fox X-Men films.
Marvel Studios is set to present at San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H on Saturday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m. PDT, where Feige will be joined by unannounced special guests to discuss the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
