Eight More Titles Depart Xbox Game Pass This July
July is shaping up to be a significant month for Xbox Game Pass, with a wave of removals on the horizon. Following the departure of 10 titles on July 15, Xbox has revealed another batch of games that will be leaving the service at the end of the month. Among these are the beloved indie platformer Celeste and the acclaimed strategy RPG Crusader Kings 3, both of which have been staples on the platform for years.
Over the weekend, Xbox updated the “Leaving Soon” section on the Xbox Cloud Gaming site, highlighting the titles set to be removed on July 31.
Celeste stands out as a major loss. This indie gem is celebrated for its precise gameplay that challenges players with pixel-perfect movements, alongside its deeply moving narrative. Originally released in 2018, it was part of Game Pass from 2020 to 2021, returned in 2023, and has been available ever since. Similarly, Crusader Kings 3, a highly regarded RPG, has been part of Game Pass since September 2020. Other notable removals include the survival platformer Rain World and the strategy RPG Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord.
The earlier wave of removals on July 15 also included some significant titles. Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Stellaris, and Powerwash Simulator were among those that left, along with the charming Zelda-like Dungeons of Hinterburg. In total, eighteen games will be removed from Game Pass this month, surpassing the thirteen that exited in June.
While the ebb and flow of titles on Game Pass is expected, Xbox has been navigating a particularly challenging period recently. On July 6, the company announced a significant round of layoffs and studio cuts, accompanied by a detailed message from CEO Asha Sharma outlining Xbox’s new direction. Although Game Pass wasn’t specifically mentioned, it appears that day-one releases for first-party titles may be on the decline. Reports indicate that Game Pass has seen a loss of millions of subscribers over the past year, partly due to a price increase in October 2025. In response, the price of Game Pass Ultimate was slightly reduced, and a more affordable, streamlined version of the service was introduced. Additionally, Xbox has been a focal point of boycott campaigns from the BDS movement since July 2025.
This game about climbing a mountain is VERY similar to actually climbing a mountain.
