FaZe Vegas Claims CoD Champs 2026 Title, Stops OpTic Texas from Achieving 3-Peat

FaZe Vegas has reclaimed its spot at the pinnacle of Call of Duty esports, decisively defeating OpTic Texas 5-2 in the grand finals of the Call of Duty League Championship 2026 (CoD Champs 2026) for Black Ops 7. The showdown took place at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.

This victory marks FaZe’s second CoD Champs title, following their first win in 2021 during Black Ops Cold War when they were still based in Atlanta. The roster, featuring Simp, Drazah, Abuzah, and 04, thwarted OpTic’s attempt to secure a third consecutive CoD Champs trophy and a fourth for Shotzzy.

Simp, a veteran who was part of the Atlanta FaZe team that triumphed five years ago and also played for eUnited in 2019, has now clinched his third CDL Championship title. This achievement places him among the elite players in the league’s history, joining the ranks of Crimsix, Clayster, Karma, and Shotzzy. The 25-year-old also earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.

Drazah added to his accolades with a second world title after winning with LA Thieves in 2022, while Abuzah and 04 celebrated their first championships, avenging their finals loss to OpTic from the previous year.

Having previously defeated OpTic in the CDL Major 2, FaZe Vegas showcased a strong upper bracket performance, securing the lion’s share of the $2 million prize pool, totaling $800,000, by overcoming G2 Minnesota (3-1), Riyadh Falcons (3-0), and OpTic (3-2) in the winners finals.

In the finals, OpTic Texas struck first, with Mercules leading the charge with 34 kills and Shotzzy contributing 31 in a 250-216 victory in Hardpoint on Colossus. FaZe Vegas quickly leveled the score in Raid Search and Destroy, with Simp delivering a pivotal first kill on Dashy to clinch a Round 11 win.

From that point, FaZe seized control of the match. They executed a strategic 4-3 victory on Scar Overload, followed by Drazah’s impressive 39-kill performance that led to a 250-194 win on Scar Hardpoint. FaZe then moved to championship point after another SnD Round 11 win on Den. However, OpTic fought back, claiming a 4-3 victory on Den Overload with a strong second half.

The competition was fierce, with only 24 points separating the two teams across six maps. FaZe, determined not to let OpTic mount a comeback, faced a 4-5 deficit on Hacienda SnD. Simp made two crucial pickoffs, forcing a third Round 11 in the series. FaZe then expertly countered OpTic’s rush B strategy, with Abuzah winning a 1v1 against Mercules to secure the CoD Champs 2026 title.

OpTic Texas fell short in their title defense after back-to-back victories in Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6, taking home $480,000 for their runner-up finish.
