Apple is said to be experimenting with a MacBook Neo featuring increased RAM.

Following the impressive success of the MacBook Neo, there are whispers that Apple is gearing up to launch an upgraded version of its budget-friendly laptop. This new iteration is expected to feature a fresh processor and increased memory, along with a potential palette of new colors. Analyst Tim Culpan hinted at this earlier in the year, and now Mark Gurman has reported that the updated Neo will be powered by the A19 Pro chip, which currently fuels the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Air. This is a step up from the existing model’s A18 Pro, which debuted with the iPhone 16 Pro. With this chip upgrade, the new Neo is likely to come with more RAM, possibly increasing from 8GB to 12GB.

However, due to ongoing component shortages, it’s likely that the next Neo will carry a higher price tag than its predecessor, a trend already seen with Apple’s recent price hikes across nearly all its devices. Additionally, there’s speculation that Apple might phase out the entry-level 256GB version of the Neo, which could further drive up the starting price.

On top of the Neo updates, Gurman also mentioned that Apple is planning to unveil new iMacs, which last saw an update in 2024, featuring OLED displays. Other anticipated releases include the M6 MacBook Pro and OLED touchscreen MacBooks, expected to arrive later this year or early next year. Furthermore, a redesigned base model 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with an M7 chip is also on the horizon for next year.
