Philips Unveils Smart Toothbrush That Highlights Missed Spots While Brushing
The newest entry in the Sonicare lineup of smart electric toothbrushes aims to eliminate uncertainty from your oral care routine. The Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige features a cutting-edge AI model that offers real-time feedback on your brushing technique via a glowing ring at its base. Additionally, a touchscreen interface points out areas in your mouth that may require extra attention once you think you’re finished.
Set to launch in Europe and the US this fall, with a broader global release planned for 2027, the pricing details are still under wraps. However, previous models have retailed for around $430, so expect this latest version to come with a higher price tag.
The toothbrush’s touchscreen allows you to navigate through eight different cleaning modes, including options for gum health, maximum cleaning, and sensitivity. To prevent you from applying too much pressure while brushing, the glowing ring changes color to signal when you need to ease up. The 9900 Prestige is also equipped with pressure sensors that automatically adjust the brush’s intensity to protect your gums.
Moreover, the touchscreen features what Philips refers to as a mouth map, dividing your teeth and gums into 12 segments that light up in blue or orange to indicate brushing effectiveness. As you brush, the 9900 Prestige tracks its movements and highlights areas needing more attention in orange, guiding you on where to focus during your next pass.
