Marvel Tōkon Beta Launch: Key Features and Gameplay Details
I’m not typically into fighting games, but Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has really caught my attention. The combination of superheroes and stunning visuals makes it hard to resist. With the upcoming beta dates, we’re just about ready to dive in—previous playtests were exclusive to PS5, which was a bit of a letdown.
Here’s what you need to know about when you can jump into the open beta and what’s in store. While the full game is just a month away, this beta won’t showcase everything that will be available at launch. Notably, a few fighters are missing.
The Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls beta will be available for just three days on PC and PS5, running from Friday, July 24, to Sunday, July 26, at the following global times:

You can download the open beta through Steam or the Epic Games Store on PC, or on PlayStation, up to two hours before the playtest kicks off.
This open beta offers significantly more content than previous closed tests (which were also limited to PS5), but it still doesn’t include everything we’ll see at launch. Specifically, it features 16 out of the 20 characters, leaving a few teams a bit short:
The Avengers are only missing the Hulk, which is a major loss:
Blade makes his debut, but this team is lacking Deadpool and Loki:
I can finally play my favorite fighters on this team, but Carnage is absent:
In addition to the nearly complete roster, we’ll have:
We’ll also be able to battle it out on six different stages, though the developer hasn’t confirmed the total number for the full game yet.
Interestingly, we’ll have access to ranked mode during the beta, allowing us to climb the ladder. This might actually be the best time to do it, as most players will still be figuring out the mechanics.
Between matches, we can hang out in the Open Lobby, where you can choose an avatar and connect with other players. You can even challenge them directly using the arcade cabinets.
For the first time, we can experience the first three chapters of the story mode, specifically the Amazing Guardians storyline, where Spider-Man assembles the team. I love that it includes fully illustrated motion comic cutscenes between battles, which adds a nice touch.
