Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Set for Major Transformation Next Week

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero launched in October 2024 and has seen a steady influx of new characters throughout its first year. However, fans have been eager for more than just character additions, seeking new game modes and costumes as well. Their wishes will be granted at the end of July with the release of the Super Limit-Breaking Neo DLC, which will introduce new attacks, stages, and a wealth of new characters.

First announced in April, the Neo DLC is set to add over 30 characters to the roster, marking the first major additions since last fall’s final Dragon Ball Daimacharacter pack. We already knew that fan-favorites like Pikkon, Super 17, and Super Saiyan Bardock were on the way. The latest trailer for the Neo DLC revealed that teenage versions of Goku, Chi-Chi, and Tien will also join the fray, along with a version of Piccolo from the 23rd Tenkaichi Budōkai, complete with his giant form. Additionally, Goku will be able to transform into a False Super Saiyan from the Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug movie, although this form appears to be part of a special attack rather than a standalone character.

The DLC will also introduce four new stages: Kami’s Palace, Kame House, Bitter Tundra, and the Stratosphere of Earth and Planet Vegeta. Players can look forward to various costumes and new super attacks as well. One of the most exciting features is a brand-new single-player mode called Limit Breaker Journey, which incorporates RPG-like elements. In this mode, players will choose a character and explore a map to battle enemies and level up their stats, allowing for customization of play styles. Some battles will have unique conditions, such as collecting Dragon Balls, and Limit Breaker Journey promises to present challenging foes.

The existing Episode Battle mode, which serves as Sparking Zero’s story mode, will also see expansions. Earthlings Yamcha, Krillin, and Tien will receive their own Episode Battles, along with the villain Cell. The pricing for the Super Limit-Breaking Neo DLC has yet to be announced, but it is set to release on July 30 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, with details about its availability on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 to follow.

Additionally, a free update for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will introduce gameplay changes. The Sparking! Boost feature will allow players to enhance their attack power during Sparking! Mode, though their stats will be temporarily reduced once the mode ends. A new mechanic called Chain Blast will provide players with a fresh way to deal damage after launching opponents into the air. The free update will also include variations of existing stages, though specific details on these changes have not been disclosed.

So, you can only go Super Saiyan for a limited time?!
