Top Palworld 1.0 Companions for Streamlining Your Base Operations
We all have our favorites, but my approach of ‘using the cutest little guys’ doesn’t always lead to the best pals in Palworld 1.0. After my time in early access, I’ve picked up some valuable insights and can finally share solid recommendations for the best pals suited for tasks like Kindling, Handiwork, Medicine Production, and more.
Remember, “best pal” lists can be pretty subjective, so if your favorite isn’t mentioned, don’t worry! This list mainly focuses on base suitability levels, but sometimes a partner’s skill or availability can influence the rankings.

Bastigor boasts the highest starting base suitability for Cooling in Palworld. While I haven’t tested it in the Pal Condenser yet, I don’t think I need to. I keep my Bastigor focused solely on Cooling tasks, but it could also be useful for Lumbering or Mining if necessary.
Wumpo is a strong contender for Cooling as well, thanks to its passive ability that boosts all your base pals’ Transporting suitability by +1. Level Wumpo up in the condenser, and it becomes the superior choice.

Jetdragon has the highest starting Gathering suitability in Palworld, but Venusa is my top pick due to its versatility. Gathering hasn’t been a challenge for me, so I invested in Venusa’s four suitabilities instead of Jetdragon’s single focus.
Jetdragon isn’t even my second choice; I’d recommend a more adaptable pal like Verdash or even a lower base level pal like Vaelet before considering one that only excels in Gathering.

Dragon/Electric-type pal
Work Suitability: ⚡8 ????3 ????4
I had a tough time with Electricity Handbook drops, so building an army of Oserks made maintaining power at multiple bases a breeze. The downside is that you can only find one after entering the World Tree, but at least it’s not another boss pick.
Grizzbolt’s memorable entrance with Zoey adds to its popularity, and it’s a reliable workhorse. I used two Grizzbolts at my base for a long time, but without handbooks, it can’t match Oserk’s capabilities.

Dark/Neutral-type pal

Solene has the highest starting Handiwork suitability in Palworld, and I was thrilled to find one. As I progressed into the late game, crafting tasks became more daunting due to increased Handiwork demands. Solene is located in the World Tree, so you’ll need to wait a bit to capture one, but it’s definitely worth it.
If you have Anubis at your base, Sekhmet is essential. Its passive ability boosts Anubis’s work speed when both are deployed, and even when Sekhmet is alone, it gets a personal buff for assignments at workbenches and production facilities.

Dupin may not have the highest Kindling level—Renjishi takes that honor—but adding this joker pal to your roster is hard to resist. They’re plentiful in the World Tree, and you can find Dupin at spawn points on every island in Palpagos. Plus, Dupin excels in Handiwork and Medicine Production, which are two stats I always value.
It was a close call between Flaracle and Renjishi, but Renjishi edges out with higher Kindling and an extra suitability. Losing its Gathering suitability isn’t a dealbreaker if you prefer using smaller pals like I do.

A solid Knocklem Ignis can handle both Lumbering and Mining, but I found Celesdir Noct to be a nice upgrade since I’m often low on wood. It’s an overworld boss in the World Tree, so I’ve delayed upgrading its base suitability, but that’s next on my list.
Hartalis would be a good option if it weren’t a boss you have to summon at the altar, so Cryolinx Terra gets my vote for its high Lumbering and additional suitabilities. Truth be told, I relied on Bushi Noct for a long time.

Aegidron starts with level 8 mining suitability, but I can’t justify choosing it for a single specialty when Knocklem Ignis is effective for three. Its abilities make this hulking suit of armor great for mining, transporting its haul, and whipping up a quick snack.
While not the best in any of its specialties, Anubis is still a solid choice for mining, handiwork, and transporting. It also gets a work speed boost when Sekhmet is around.

Grass-type pal
Work Suitability: ????8 ????6 ????6 ????4 ????2
Silvance has the highest starting work suitability for Medicine Production in the game, but it’s only available as a boss in the World Tree, making it an endgame pal. Higher-level crafts require a lot of Medicine Production, and with four other specialties, Silvance is definitely worth the effort. This quirky moth pal is one of my favorites in Palworld 1.0.
Lyleen Noct ranks just below Silvance for starting suitability, but opting for the regular Lyleen isn’t a bad choice if you have a few handbooks handy.

Like Silvance, Dandilord is another World Tree boss worth the investment. It’s fantastic as a base pal for Planting and several other tasks, plus its poison immunity passive is a lifesaver when exploring the World Tree. High Medicine Production and Handiwork are always a win, and having the best Planting stats is a nice bonus.
I love assigning Ophydia to Planting duties since it also has a decent Watering suitability. You can have it handle both tasks while a Gathering pal supports, and you’re all set.

Neutral-type pal
Work Suitability: ????2 ????1
Mimog may not have the highest Transporting base suitability, but this little guy is incredibly fast, making up for it. If you have a Wumpo managing your Cooling stations, it gives Mimog a capacity boost too. I let a few other pals help out occasionally, but pairing Mimog with a few handbooks was more than enough to keep things organized.
If Anubis is assigned to Mining stations, I’d recommend using that as your second pal for Transporting. Otherwise, Eidrolon is a solid choice since it has the highest base level for carrying.
