Hi-Fi Rush Physical Editions Released Missing Expected Content: “We Truly Apologize”

Hi-Fi Rush’s physical edition faced some uncertainty after Tango Gameworks was shut down by Xbox in 2024. Fortunately, the studio has been revived and is now working on a sequel, hopefully steering clear of any less favorable ideas from its new parent company. The highly praised 2023 game’s physical edition has started to roll out, but reports indicate that some copies are missing the DLC that was meant to be included.

Superdeluxe Games, the Japanese arm of the physical edition producer Limited Run Games and publisher 8-4, Ltd, released the disc version of Hi-Fi Rush earlier this month, and those copies are already sold out on their official site. However, players who inserted the discs into their PS5s discovered that the DLC was absent. While most of Hi-Fi Rush’s additional content is cosmetic, featuring costumes for the main character Chai, it also includes a B-Sides expansion that introduces new songs and an Arcade Challenge mode. Superdeluxe Games has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating it, looking for a resolution. It remains unclear whether this will be addressed through a free update or if players will receive vouchers for the missing DLC later on.

The company issued a statement expressing their regret for not meeting the expectations of those who purchased the game and assured that they are working on a solution.

It’s unfortunate, but it seems this issue has primarily affected buyers of the Japanese editions. The physical versions released by Limited Run Games in other regions back in January did not encounter this problem. As for the upcoming sequel, whether it will have a physical edition for PlayStation depends on its release date, especially with Sony planning to halt the production of physical discs for PlayStation games by 2028.
