Laufey from God of War Added to February 2027 Game Lineup

God of War: Laufey is set to be the next exclusive title for PlayStation 5, following the launch of Marvel’s Wolverine in September. During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, it was announced that this highly anticipated action-adventure from Santa Monica Studio will hit shelves on February 16, 2027. This release places it just after Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and right before Persona 4 Revival, with Fable launching the following week and Metro 2039 also scheduled for that month. This strategic timing positions Laufey as one of at least two major first-party PlayStation exclusives fans can look forward to next year.

Despite being unveiled only a couple of months ago, there was already speculation about Laufey’s imminent release, especially since the development team confirmed it will include a physical disc version. Sony has stated that all games launching in January 2028 and later will be digital-only.

At the Comic-Con panel, franchise director Cory Barlog revealed that a second God of War game is already in the works, featuring Kratos and directly connecting to Laufey. Players are eager to see Laufey delve into some of the series’ most significant mysteries that have lingered since the 2018 reboot, while also hinting at new ones.

The announcement of a second game is promising, suggesting that Santa Monica Studio is not feeling pressured to force Kratos into Laufey’s storyline. However, this sequel currently lacks a release date.
