A new Vox Machina adventure from Critical Role is now available to stream for free.

Webtoon and Dark Horse Comics strengthened their collaboration in June last year, with Dark Horse introducing five major franchises, including The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, to the digital comic platform. Among these was Critical Role, featuring Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins, which allowed fans to explore the backstories of the heroes from Campaign 2 in a fresh vertical-scroll format.

During the entertainment panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that even more Critical Role content is coming to the platform. Specifically, Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins, the popular prequel comic series that delves into the adventures of Vox Machina before they became a legendary team.

Here’s a glimpse of the comic series’ official synopsis:

A mysterious curse haunts the coastal town of Stillben. Six aspiring heroes, each on their own path, clash and then unite as they uncover a scheme to annihilate the city (and perhaps themselves)! Meet Vox Machina. One day, they’ll save the world. Eventually.

This marks the second Critical Role title to debut on Webtoon, a fantastic opportunity for fans eager to dive deeper into Exandria’s stories on a mobile-friendly platform.

The epic tales of Vox Machina have been shared through various mediums, including the original actual-play Dungeons & Dragons campaign from Geek & Sundry, the Critical Role series, and Prime Video’s animated adaptation. Adding another format is a welcome addition, especially with the convenience of Webtoon.

Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins will premiere on Webtoon with the first three episodes available for free on August 4, 2026. The series will consist of 56 episodes per season, with 5 Fast Pass episodes also accessible through Webtoon’s Fast Pass, purchasable with Webtoon Coins.
