Ted Lasso Season 4 Trailer Highlights Heartwarming Moments and Iconic Lasso-isms

Apple TV’s fan-favorite sports comedy, Ted Lasso, is gearing up for its fourth season, with a new trailer dropping ahead of its return on August 5. This time around, Ted is back in Richmond, but instead of continuing his journey in the English Premier League, he’ll be taking on the challenge of coaching a second-division women’s team.

The trailer hints at various challenges, including some unexpected twists and the return of a familiar will-they/won’t-they dynamic. Jason Sudeikis is back as Ted, joined by Hannah Waddingham reprising her role as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. Other returning favorites include Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Willis Beard, and Juno Temple as Keeley Jones. The fourth season will consist of 10 episodes, airing until October 7.

For a time, Ted Lasso was a cultural sensation, racking up 61 Emmy nominations and winning Best Comedy for its first two seasons. The third season, however, sparked some debate among fans due to its character development choices. Co-creator Jason Sudeikis mentioned that the show was initially intended to wrap up in three seasons, which was evident in the way the story concluded. Nevertheless, Apple decided to renew Ted Lasso in March 2025.

As a quick refresher on the series’ last episode (spoilers ahead), Ted handed over coaching responsibilities to Roy Kent to return to the U.S. and be with his son. Keeley suggested the formation of an AFC Richmond Women’s Team, which is likely the team Ted will be coaching in the upcoming season.

While some may feel skeptical about Ted Lasso’s return after the previous season’s conclusion, the decision to have Ted lead a new team is a clever way to refresh the series while keeping its core appeal intact. The latest trailer captures the heartwarming vibes and down-to-earth charm that made the show a standout. We’ll see if the series can recapture the magic of its first two seasons when it premieres next week.
