Final Fantasy 14’s latest update wraps up the Dawntrail relic quest and introduces new content.
It’s patch day for Final Fantasy 14, and Patch 7.55 rolls in with a host of changes and new content as the game wraps up the Dawntrail expansion and gears up for next year’s Evercold. This update signals the conclusion of several long-running quest lines and brings adjustments to one of the game’s toughest challenges.
Warriors of Light will be excited to see the end of the Phantom Weapons relic quest line in 7.55. This means players can now upgrade all of Dawntrail’s relic weapons to their final tier, with a reduction in the cost to enhance any subsequent Phantom Weapons after acquiring the first. Completing the Phantom Weapons quest will take players to the newly introduced North Horn within Occult Crescent, the expansive field operation of Dawntrail. The patch notes provide a detailed overview of all the new features added to Occult Crescent’s intricate gameplay systems, including the introduction of Blue and Black Mages as phantom jobs.
Patch 7.55 also wraps up the Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures. The Hildibrand quests have consistently delivered some of the most entertaining storylines in Final Fantasy 14, and Dawntrail has kept that tradition alive. While it’s bittersweet to bid farewell to Hildibrand for now, there’s hope for his return in Evercold. Additionally, the allied society quests will also conclude with this patch.
For those who have been tackling Dancing Mad (Ultimate), there’s a slight update to this challenging raid in 7.55. The visibility for Celestriad, an ability used by Kefka in the final phase of the encounter, has been improved by enlarging the elemental icons associated with the mechanic. A hotfix was also implemented last month to address a frustrating segment involving panels that misdirected players. So, if you manage to clear Dancing Mad (Ultimate) after this patch, congratulations—though some may argue it was tougher before.
Lastly, Patch 7.55 introduces a variety of cosmetic items, including a new hairstyle, mounts, emotes, and several furnishings. The highlight is the latest chocobo barding, which outfits your trusty steed in a picnic-ready ensemble complete with a large bonnet. The next patch, 7.56, is set to arrive in September and will start laying the groundwork for Evercold.
