Exciting Stardew Valley Mod Transforms Gameplay with Supermarket Management and Overcooked-Style Cooking!
Since its launch in 2016, items sold in Stardew Valley have always felt like they vanished into thin air. While Lewis technically collects them each night, players never actually see him interacting with the goods you harvest, cook, and gather, which can make the whole process feel a bit pointless. However, a modder has been working on an exciting project to change that over the past six months.
Recently, a mod called Farmers Store was released, allowing players to run their own supermarket. According to the mod’s description, it features an Overcooked-style kitchen, stock management, employee hiring, advertising, and compatibility with several popular mods from Stardew Valley, with multiplayer support on the way. The best part? Villagers actually visit your store to purchase your items!
That’s quite an achievement for just six months of work! Feedback from the community suggests that it functions quite well.
However, there are a few drawbacks. The mod is only partially available in English, as some text is limited to Chinese. Fortunately, a Russian fan translation is already out, and many players are eagerly asking the modder to localize it in English or even offering to help with the translation.
Additionally, some of the dialogue in the mod was generated by AI. It appears that there aren’t any new storylines or characters—just flavor text for villagers’ reactions. The modder has mentioned that “only about 20% of the text is AI-generated” and plans to replace it with original content in the future.
I was really excited about this mod, but I’m hesitant to dive into anything with AI-generated text, so I’m holding off for now. In the meantime, I can enjoy the similarly themed management sim, Chef RPG, to keep me entertained.
