Best Buy Lists RTX 5080 at Higher Price Than RTX 5090 MSRP

Best Buy has upped the price of the Asus ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC to $2,099, marking the first instance where a major US retailer is selling an RTX 5080 for more than the $1,999 MSRP of the RTX 5090. This new price represents a 40 percent increase from its original launch price of $1,499 and is more than double the $999 MSRP of the RTX 5080 Founders Edition.

Currently, this is the only RTX 5080 available at Best Buy priced above the RTX 5090’s MSRP. Other retailers still offer RTX 5080 models at lower prices; for instance, Asus lists the ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC for $1,899, which, while still above its launch price, is cheaper than Best Buy’s listing. However, ongoing component shortages and rising RAM prices suggest that we might see similar price increases for more RTX 5080 GPUs in the near future.

This price hike from Best Buy coincides with reports that Nvidia is planning to raise GPU prices by 20 to 30 percent, marking the third increase this year. With the costs of RAM and other components on the rise, we’ve even seen the re-emergence of GPUs with 4GB of VRAM, such as the ASRock AMD Radeon RX 9050 Challenger.
