Fans Speculate Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Will Compete with GTA 6 This November

Since Nintendo unveiled the highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time last month, chatter has been swirling about a potential November release. This speculation is fueled by the amusing notion that Nintendo might choose to sidestep the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, and the fact that the release calendar is rapidly filling up. However, a new fan theory presents an intriguing argument for why Nintendo could be timing this release, and it revolves around amiibo.

In recent years, Nintendo has often launched new amiibo alongside first-party game releases, seemingly to streamline shipping costs. Sometimes, the amiibo’s release date is even announced before the game it accompanies. Interestingly, the two don’t need to be related at all. For instance, back in March, fans learned that the King Dedede amiibo would drop on July 2, which was later confirmed as the release date for the latest Rhythm Heaven.

According to listings on the Nintendo UK Store, the Sword Kirby & Dragoon and Noir Dedede & Hydra amiibo are set to launch on November 11. While Nintendo hasn’t made an official announcement yet, it seems like news is on the horizon!

Recently, a Reddit user discovered European Nintendo store listings for the Sword Kirby and Dragoon, as well as Noir Dedede and Hydra amiibo, slated for November 11. This date falls on a Wednesday, which is typically an unusual choice for game launches, but adjusting the system clock on their device revealed that the UK website had the release date corrected to November 12. While this doesn’t guarantee that the Ocarina of Time remake will also drop then, it strongly suggests that some first-party Nintendo title will be available that day.

Notably, this date is just a week before the highly anticipated launch of GTA VI on November 19. This means Nintendo could be positioning the remake of one of the most celebrated games ever to compete directly with what is expected to be one of the largest game launches in history, or perhaps another title is being thrown into the mix during this busy period.

Since GTA VI won’t be available on Switch 2, owners of the new console will be looking for something to play that month. Meanwhile, Switch owners who also have a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S may find their gaming focus shifting elsewhere.
