Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Introduces New Hard Mode
One of the most anticipated features in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally on the way. Ahead of the launch of the expanded Dark Arisen version, it has been confirmed that a hard mode is in the works.
Earlier today, the official Steam page for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen shared a Q&A with director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama. When asked about the challenge level of the expansion content, Kinoshita revealed that the team is “working on a hard mode that will provide a satisfying challenge for seasoned players whose stats have reached, or are approaching, the level cap.” He also mentioned that the new content is being designed to offer a greater challenge than the main game. Oyama added that more information about the release window for hard mode will be shared later.
Capcom had previously hinted that a hard mode was a possibility for Dark Arisen. While the confirmation of this long-awaited feature is exciting, details are still limited. Oyama’s mention of a future release window may concern some fans, as it implies that hard mode might not be available at the same time as Dark Arisen. However, there’s a silver lining: Capcom could potentially roll out the feature before the expansion launches, giving players a chance to gear up for the new content. Still, it’s unclear whether hard mode will be accessible in the base game or exclusively for the new expansion.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will introduce several quality-of-life enhancements and new story elements to the original 2024 action RPG. Capcom has already announced adjustments to some controversial features like the Dragonsplague and fast travel. The highlight, however, is the addition of a new region, Norgan, along with the Forsaken Dominion storyline that will unfold there.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is set to launch on October 9, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
