Exciting Developments Ahead for Vampire: The Masquerade Beyond 6th Edition
While the reveal of Vampire: The Masquerade 6th Edition was the highlight at Gen Con 2026, the TTRPG publisher also hinted at plans to revive other titles from the World of Darkness universe. Among these are some unexpected gems, including Changeling: The Dreaming.
During the Future of White Wolf panel, creative director Jess Lanzillo shared that new editions of Mage: The Ascension, Changeling: The Dreaming, and Vampire: The Dark Ages are in development. Although details were sparse, Lanzillo mentioned that these upcoming editions will expand upon the systems introduced in the latest Vampire: The Masquerade.
Each World of Darkness game delves into different aspects of a shared supernatural realm. Mage: The Ascension is all about spellcasting, while Changeling: The Dreaming explores fae who inhabit human forms. Vampire: The Dark Ages takes players back to the medieval roots of the Vampire: The Masquerade clans. These titles have seen fewer editions compared to other games in the franchise and have been without updates for quite some time.
So, why were these three games chosen for revival? Lanzillo expressed her enthusiasm during the panel, stating, “The coolest thing about this studio being so small is that these are the things I want to do. It’s great. We need them. These are all of my favorite games in the whole world.”
Fans of Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Hunter: The Reckoning may feel let down that their favorites aren’t on the agenda. Lanzillo acknowledged these titles, noting that they currently have well-supported 5th Editions, which is why the focus is on less represented games first. There’s no update on the status of new editions for Wraith: The Oblivion, Mummy: The Resurrection, and Demon: The Fallen.
While a release date for Vampire: The Masquerade 6th Edition hasn’t been announced yet, Lanzillo mentioned that her team aims to release a core book annually. Once White Wolf resumes rolling out new editions, fans can likely expect a consistent flow of updates.
Some fans have expressed concerns that V6 makes Vampire: The Masquerade feel too much like Dungeons & Dragons.
