Even Attack on Titan Steers Clear of GTA 6
Several games are set to launch early in September or October to steer clear of Grand Theft Auto 6’s release on November 19. However, Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan 3 won’t hit the shelves until mid-December.
Omega Force, the studio behind Dynasty Warriors, has confirmed that Attack on Titan 3 will arrive on December 10. This marks the first new installment in the series in over eight years, and it promises to cover the entire manga storyline, including its controversial ending. Players will navigate through these events as a customizable original character instead of stepping into the shoes of Eren, Armin, or Mikasa.
In addition to the release date, pre-orders are now live, featuring a physical Steelbook edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes cosmetic DLC, a digital art book, and 72 hours of early access to Attack on Titan 3 on all platforms except for Nintendo Switch 2. Players who have save data from Attack on Titan 2 will also receive an in-game bonus.
While these announcements are exciting for fans of the series, it’s a bit disappointing that we have to wait until December to dive into the game. Even though an anime-inspired action title like this doesn’t directly compete with GTA 6, Koei Tecmo is still opting to avoid that launch window by a few weeks.
The months of September, October, and December are becoming increasingly crowded with game releases, and Attack on Titan 3 will face competition from other Japanese-developed titles in December, such as Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The only games daring to release close to GTA 6 are ports or remasters, including Barbie Rewind, Gothic 3 Classic, and the Switch 2 port of Metaphor ReFantazio.
Attack on Titan 3 is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on December 10, likely positioning it as one of the final AAA titles to drop in a busy fall 2026 for the gaming industry.
Let’s hope it doesn’t face any further delays.
