Dave Bautista May Star as Kratos in Upcoming God of War Series
Ryan Hurst was initially set to portray Kratos in Amazon’s adaptation of God of War, but a bicep injury forced him to step down from the role. Following this news, it appears that Dave Bautista, the wrestler-turned-actor known for his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, is in discussions to take on the role of Atreus’ father in the series.
Reports indicate that Bautista is in the early stages of negotiations with Amazon, although no official confirmation has been made yet. If finalized, he would be filming the first four episodes of the show as part of a significant reshoot due to Hurst’s injury and subsequent recasting. Bautista would star alongside Callum Vinson, the young actor playing Atreus in the first season. However, Vinson is not expected to continue as Kratos’ son in future seasons, as Amazon plans to age up the character with a different actor. The same approach applies to Island Austin, who portrays a younger version of Thor’s daughter, Thrud, and will also be replaced in the second season.
