Pokopia’s Major Update Addresses My Top Concern with the Game

Pokémon Pokopia is set to launch its first paid DLC, Bubbly Basin, alongside a significant free update this Wednesday. While the spotlight has been on Ditto’s exciting new ability to dive underwater, I’m equally thrilled about another feature that has just been revealed: shared storage.

According to reports, the free update will introduce a shared storage unit capable of holding up to 140 items, allowing players to access their stored items from any location where a storage bin is placed. For instance, if you stash an item in a shared storage box in Withered Wasteland, you can retrieve it from another shared storage box in Bubbly Basin.

This may sound straightforward, but it’s a game changer for Pokopia. The absence of shared storage has been one of my main frustrations with the game. While I understand the reasoning behind it—Pokopia’s limited inventory system encourages players to start fresh in each new region, making it difficult to transport resources—it can become cumbersome and confusing to track what items are stored in which bins across different regions. I’ve tried to organize my items into decoration bins, resource bins, and block bins, but I often end up mixing them up and have to sift through every single bin to find that elusive Wing Fossil head. The community is understandably excited about this change.

Additional details shared include the confirmation of new Pokémon like Wiglett and Mareanie, frameless glass, a special item for generating electricity underwater, and the ability to use moves like Rollout, Rototiller, Rock Smash, and Leafage while submerged.

The major update for Pokopia is set to drop on Wednesday, August 5. If you’ve purchased the $35 expansion pass, you’ll gain access to the new region, Bubbly Basin. For everyone else, the Dive ability will still be available. Fingers crossed that the shared storage feature is included in the free update as well!
