Exciting New Titles Arriving on Game Pass Lite This August 2026

The first wave of Xbox Game Pass additions for August 2026 has been announced, and while there aren’t any major surprises, several titles that were previously exclusive to the Ultimate tier are now making their way to the more affordable Premium version. Additionally, Game Freak’s attempt at the Soulslike genre, Beast of Reincarnation, launches today as a day-one Game Pass Ultimate title for both console and PC players.

Subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate will also gain access to the Gears of War: E-Day Early Access Open Beta starting August 6. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming to Game Pass Ultimate and the various tiers of this Netflix-style library in the first wave of August additions:

To clarify the differences between Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Premium: Ultimate costs $23 a month, while Premium is priced at $15. The key distinction is that Premium doesn’t receive day-one games and other new additions simultaneously with Ultimate; instead, these titles roll out to the lower tier over time. Essentially, for an additional $5 on top of the monthly fee for Xbox multiplayer access, players can enjoy a smaller yet still substantial library of games. August is bringing some solid titles to Premium.

One standout is Ball x Pit, a roguelite bullet heaven game that’s easy to pick up but hard to put down, blending elements of Breakout and Vampire Survivors. It has just received its final free update. Mio: Memories in Orbit is another noteworthy addition to Game Pass Premium, offering an atmospheric action platformer metroidvania with stunning visuals, despite some combat shortcomings. Monsters Are Coming! and PowerWash Simulator 2 are also excellent picks.

Don’t overlook Sandustry this month. It’s a day-and-date Game Pass Ultimate release from strategy game publisher Hooded Horse, featuring a 2D, lo-fi open-world survival crafting experience reminiscent of Terraria, complete with a jetpack. The Steam demo from last year garnered positive feedback. And if you haven’t tried Firewatch yet, you have just over a week left to play it before it leaves Game Pass on August 15.
