Pokémon Pokopia’s latest DLC takes players into the Let’s Go universe.

Pokémon Pokopia takes a unique turn from the traditional Pokémon narrative, placing players in a world where humanity has vanished, leaving Pokémon to navigate their own existence. Despite this shift, the game is rich with references and lore, featuring collectibles like newspapers and gadgets that shed light on the era when humans and Pokémon cohabited.

In the Bubbly Basin DLC, it has been confirmed that Pokopia exists within the same universe as Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee (LGPE). Notably, Trace, a trainer from LGPE who serves as the player’s best friend and rival, is mentioned as the champion of Kanto in Pokopia. Additionally, May, the female lead from the Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire series and their remakes, is identified as the champion of Hoenn, a detail that has never been disclosed before.

This connection was first highlighted by a user who shared screenshots of the collectible’s text, which reads: “The story of Trace, former Champion of the Pokémon Kanto League, and his faithful companion Marowak is now available as a picture book! His fateful encounter at Pokémon Tower, the adventures that led him to become champion — it’s all available as a charming tale that is perfect to read along with your children!”

Speculation about Pokopia’s ties to LGPE has been circulating since the game’s release, as both titles share numerous similarities beyond just being Pokémon games. For instance, Vermilion City features many objects and textures that are also found in Pokopia, including the road surface and streetlights, while concept art from LGPE could easily be mistaken for scenes from Pokopia.

While this connection is tenuous, it certainly fuels speculation about a potential LGPE sequel set in Hoenn. Although Johto would logically come next since we’ve only explored Kanto so far, The Pokémon Company often surprises fans with its choices, so Hoenn could very well be on the horizon. After all, LGPE has garnered a dedicated fanbase, even as a more family-friendly and simplified iteration of the Pokémon experience.

A whole new world awaits.
