GTA 6 Trailer Set to Premiere on Netflix This August

Grand Theft Auto 6 is gearing up for an exciting reveal with an extended trailer set to drop at the end of August, offering fans a closer look at one of the most eagerly awaited games of the decade. In a surprising announcement, Rockstar Games shared that this next glimpse of GTA 6 will premiere on Netflix.

Titled “Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look,” the trailer is scheduled to debut on Thursday, August 27, at 3 p.m. EDT / 12 p.m. PDT, giving subscribers an exclusive first peek at what’s in store for GTA 6.

The good news is that Netflix won’t be keeping the trailer behind a paywall; non-subscribers will also get a chance to watch it, albeit a bit later. If you don’t have a Netflix account, you can catch the extended trailer for free on YouTube at 9 p.m. That’s a relief for fans who have been eagerly searching for hints about the release of the highly anticipated third trailer for GTA 6.

“Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first,” said a representative from Netflix. “It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.”

As for what the extended trailer will showcase, it remains a mystery. It could feature gameplay or cinematic footage, or perhaps even design drafts and behind-the-scenes content with the developers.

So far, Rockstar has released two trailers for GTA 6. The first one dropped in 2023, giving fans their initial look at the game and its protagonists, Jason and Lucia. The second trailer followed in 2025, providing a more in-depth view of the game’s setting—Vice City, Leonida—and the expansive gameplay it promises.

GTA 6 marks the first new entry in the series in over a decade, and expectations are sky-high. The previous installment, Grand Theft Auto 5, has sold over 225 million copies since its launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. The sixth mainline game in Rockstar’s long-standing franchise returns to Vice City, where dual protagonists Jason and Lucia strive for a better life.

Here’s the official synopsis of the game:

Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, caught in a criminal conspiracy that spans the state of Leonida—forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to survive.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on November 19, 2026.
