ChatGPT Now Offers Unlimited Text Chats for Free Users

OpenAI is rolling out some exciting updates for ChatGPT users on the free and Go tiers. Starting next week, these users will enjoy unlimited text chats with the chatbot, eliminating the current rate limits for text interactions. However, limits will still apply to messages that include file uploads and images.

Additionally, a new “Think” button will be introduced for free and Go users, allowing them to tap into enhanced reasoning capabilities for tackling tougher questions. This week, these users will also see an upgrade to ChatGPT’s default AI model, now featuring the recently launched GPT-5.6 Luna.

For Plus and Pro subscribers, the GPT-5.6 Sol model in ChatGPT is being enhanced to provide more reliable factual information. OpenAI emphasizes that the new GPT-5.6 Sol aims to reduce errors, particularly when responses hinge on dates, numbers, sources, rules, or assumptions, by leveraging its sources more effectively. Users can expect more direct answers with streamlined formatting, as ChatGPT will focus on avoiding unnecessary details.

Plus and Pro subscribers will also gain access to a new slider that allows them to control the depth of thought ChatGPT applies to its answers. Both the updated GPT-5.6 Sol and the slider feature will be available starting Thursday.
