Sam Neill Appears in the Zelda Movie, But Not as Ganondorf
The upcoming Legend of Zelda movie has had its main cast locked in for a while, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason set to portray Link and Zelda, respectively. Recently, we’ve learned about the actors stepping into the roles of Ganondorf and Impa, along with reports that the late Sam Neill is also part of the project.
According to reports, Uli Latukefu, known for his role in Young Rock, will take on the role of the series villain Ganondorf, although we haven’t seen him in costume yet, unlike Ainsworth and Bragason. Dichen Lachman, recognized from Severance, has been confirmed to play Impa, Zelda’s Sheik bodyguard, a role fans speculated about after she appeared in leaked set photos.
Additionally, Yvonne Strahovski, known for her work in Dexter and Mass Effect, along with Sam Neill, are also part of the cast, though their specific roles remain under wraps. There are rumors that Strahovski might portray a queen of some sort. This film will mark one of Neill’s final performances following his passing last month.
It’s possible that Neill could be playing the King of Hyrule, but we’ll have to wait for the movie’s release on April 30, 2027, to find out for sure.
