Marvel Tōkon PC Update Enhances Steam Experience: ‘Perhaps PS5 Players Will Join Us Now’
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Soul launched last week, and while the PS5 version has been generally well-received, PC players faced significant performance issues that led popular fighting game streamer Maximilian Dood to uninstall the game during a live stream. Fortunately, after some maintenance, players on Steam are now reporting a much-improved experience.
The recent update specifically addresses performance concerns, lowering CPU usage that was causing online lag and stuttering, as well as fixing a bug that led to performance drops during matches. Fans are already noticing a positive change, with many claiming it has resolved “all” the issues they encountered since the game’s release on August 6.
One player shared on Reddit, “The only issue I had is the micro stutters. Did it fix that?” Another chimed in, “Yup, I had micro stutters, 58fps and low GPU utilization, all fixed.” The excitement continued with, “Hell yeah. Maybe PS5 players will play with us now.”
This is encouraging news as I prepare to write a review of the game later this week. I’ve been enjoying Tōkon on PS5, and it seems like everyone will soon be able to enjoy it as intended, thanks to the quick response from Arc System Works. Here are the full patch notes:
Reduced CPU Usage
Multiple fixes have been implemented to lower overall CPU usage, including:
– An issue where the CPU usage remained high during startup.
– An issue where periodic audio processing during matches added unnecessary load on the system.
Sudden Performance Drops
An issue where the game was frequently checking for available audio inputs has been identified. These unnecessary checks could lead to sudden frame drops and performance issues, which have now been resolved.
Frame Rate Drops
An issue causing frame rate drops when certain resolutions were selected has been fixed.
Battle Settings
An issue where restarting the game with specific customization items or colors enabled would revert settings to default has been addressed.
Online Lobby
An issue where changing attack button displays to action icons caused some buttons to become unresponsive during open lobby mini-games has been fixed.
Warm Up Those Shaders
With the game updated to the latest version, the PC version will prompt you to warm up the shaders. Be sure to do this for a smoother experience.
Auto Graphics Quality Setting
Improved auto spec detection now selects a graphics profile that better matches your system.
