Terraria Mod Developers Urge Users to Stop Patreon Support Amid Serious Allegations Against Lead Developer
The team behind Calamity, a widely acclaimed mod for Terraria that started development in 2016, has announced that “the mod’s future development is halted until further notice.” This decision comes in the wake of serious allegations against its lead developer regarding “actions endangering minors” and claims of unpaid compensation amounting to “several thousand” dollars owed to the mod’s development team.
In a statement shared on August 10, the entire Calamity development team, excluding its owner and lead developer, Ozzatron, declared that they are collectively “ceasing all development” of the long-standing mod due to its “irrecoverably tainted reputation.”
Mrrp, one of Calamity’s lead developers, revealed the news on the mod’s official Discord server, explaining that Ozzatron was removed after the team allegedly discovered “solid evidence of their actions endangering minors on Discord.”
This alleged evidence reportedly originates from a separate Discord server called “Wormhole,” which Ozzatron described as a “chill server” for users to “vent about things” and “post lots of porn.” While this remains unverified, the Calamity community has created a Google Drive folder containing the supposed evidence.
Additionally, in a separate message on the Calamity Discord server, the group known as the “Calamity Mod Developers” stated that they “have not been compensated” for their work on the mod, and that Ozzatron has not clarified what he plans to do with the “several thousand” dollars saved from Patreon.
Mrrp also urged users to “cancel Patreon donations” for the Calamity Patreon page in light of this announcement, citing both the discontinuation of the mod and the fact that “Ozzatron owns the account.” It appears that many Patreon members heeded this advice, as an Internet Archive snapshot from August 9, 2026, indicated that the Calamity Patreon was generating approximately $2,600 a month, a figure that has since plummeted to around $480.
While Mrrp mentioned that the Calamity “dev team is working with tMod staff to officially transfer ownership of the [Steam] workshop to a new owner,” this process may be complicated since Ozzatron “owns Azafure LLC, which owns the Calamity Mod.” The Calamity Mod Developers concluded their joint statement by expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received over the past decade.
“This journey has been long, bumpy, rough, and chaotic…yet it’s still been wonderful despite that,” the statement reads. “Working on this, so many of us have learned to accomplish things we never thought we would be able to do, and no matter how painful it is to never see our dreams truly finished, the things we’ve learned we can do to be able to see the rest of our dreams maybe come to fruition someday is something that can never be taken away.”
