Marvel and Star Wars Unite for Their First Official Crossover in 2024

If you’ve ever imagined epic showdowns like Luke Skywalker facing off against Doctor Doom or Han Solo squaring off with Thanos, your dreams are about to become a reality. In 2027, the worlds of Marvel and Star Wars, both under the Disney banner, will officially collide for the first time in an exciting limited comic book series.

On August 11, it was revealed that a five-part comic series is in the works, featuring iconic Star Wars characters such as Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi stepping into Earth-616, the primary universe of Marvel. They’ll encounter heroes like Black Widow, Captain America, and the Hulk. Expect to see villains from both franchises, including Doctor Doom and Darth Vader, joining forces in this thrilling series titled Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles.

This crossover event coincides with the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. The series is being penned by filmmaker Kevin Smith, known for his work on popular comic runs like Daredevil and Batman. David Marquez will take the reins as the lead artist for this crossover.

“Back in the early ‘80s, I had a subscription to Marvel’s Star Wars comics,” Smith shared. “While it was a blast to follow the adventures of Luke, Leia, and Han, I always dreamed of Spider-Man or Doctor Doom crossing into their saga. So when the chance came to tell that story, nobody had to Force my hand! I’m thrilled to be writing Hope Assembles for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars! Huge thanks to Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm for letting me pilot the Falcon and the Quinjet!”

Here’s the official logline for this crossover event:

Hope Assembles will firmly integrate the Star Wars franchise into Marvel’s 616 universe, as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes witness the events of A New Hope unfold right before their eyes due to a reality-altering spell.

The first issue of this crossover is set to launch in January 2027, with new issues releasing monthly, culminating in the final installment in May 2027.
