Limited-Edition Xbox Gear Unveiled for Gears of War Fans

In the Gears of War universe, Emergence Day stands out as one of the darkest and most tragic moments in history. This is the day when the Locusts launched their devastating assault on humanity, resulting in the loss of over a quarter of the global population within just 24 hours. To honor this significant event and the lives lost, special Gears of War: E-Day-themed controllers have been announced. It’s a tribute that resonates with the fallen.

Currently, fans can pre-order the limited-edition Gears of War: E-Day controller for $89.99. Additionally, starting September 30, players will have the opportunity to create their own custom controller inspired by the next installment in the Gears series through Xbox Design Lab. According to an announcement, “these offerings pay tribute to Emergence Day with hardware inspired by the symbols, scars, and battles that defined humanity’s war against the Locust Horde.”

The design of the limited-edition controller is influenced by the E-holes—yes, that’s their actual name—that mar the landscape of Gears of War: E-Day. It features intricately 3D-molded, laser-etched details of cracked asphalt with glowing red fissures, centered around the iconic Crimson Omen. This design captures the horror and brutality unleashed on Emergence Day. The Xbox Design Lab controllers will showcase artwork from renowned heavy metal illustrator Luke Preece, with a standout feature being a custom top case that displays a skull over crossed Lancers, the series’ signature weapons. In addition to the controllers, Xbox is collaborating with 8BitDO to launch a Gears of War: E-Day charging dock.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled for release on October 6 for Xbox Series X and Windows PC. A preview of the game was conducted at the end of July, and it certainly delivers more of what fans expect from the franchise. While this can be seen as both a positive and a negative, the thrill of battling Locusts remains as engaging as ever.
