Oblivion Remastered on Switch 2 Could Address Major Remake Issues
Bethesda has launched The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2 this week, and the reception has been quite positive. This remake of the beloved RPG performs impressively on Nintendo’s latest console, thanks to several optimizations. While this is great news for players on the Switch 2, it has left those on other platforms feeling frustrated due to ongoing performance issues. However, it seems Bethesda is aware and may be addressing these concerns.
Following a celebratory post about the Switch 2 release, Bethesda Game Studios acknowledged the feedback regarding the game’s performance on other platforms. They stated, “We’ve heard your feedback asking for an additional patch for Oblivion Remastered. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game has a number of optimizations that we are looking into bringing to other platforms, and we will share more when we are able.”
Oblivion Remastered was initially released in April of last year for all major platforms. Players on PlayStation, Windows PC, and Xbox have reported issues like frame rate drops, stuttering during open-world exploration, and frequent crashes. Despite several patches post-launch, many players continue to experience these problems. While some glitches can add to the charm of a Bethesda game, ongoing performance issues that hinder gameplay are far from enjoyable.
Reports indicate that the Switch 2 version runs significantly better than its counterparts. Although Bethesda hasn’t provided a specific timeline, fans are eager for a patch that brings similar enhancements to other platforms as soon as possible.
In other news, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently visited Bethesda Softworks to check out The Elder Scrolls 6 while unionized workers protested recent layoffs outside the studio. Sharma described the scale and grandeur of the upcoming RPG as “incredible.”
Bigger isn’t always better.
