Tomb Raider: Catalyst’s launch window has been updated.

After its initial announcement for a 2027 launch, Tomb Raider: Catalyst was pushed back last month to a vague 2028 timeframe. Fortunately, Embracer Group, the owner of the franchise, has now provided fans with more clarity on when they can expect to dive into Lara Croft’s next original adventure.

In their latest earnings report, Embracer outlined release plans for the 27/28 fiscal year, which includes Tomb Raider: Catalyst. The company anticipates that the game will be available before the end of that fiscal year, meaning players can look forward to its release by April 2028—assuming there are no further delays. This title will mark the first entirely new entry in the series since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider wrapped up the Survivor Trilogy.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst will also continue the franchise’s unified timeline, connecting the Survivor Trilogy with all earlier Tomb Raider titles. For those invested in the lore, this means Catalyst is set after the events of 2008’s Tomb Raider: Underworld. Since Crystal Dynamics was acquired by Embracer Group in 2022, the studio has faced several rounds of layoffs, with the most recent affecting 20 employees in March.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of Lara Croft’s inaugural adventure, scheduled for release on February 12, 2027. This remake was announced alongside Catalyst in 2025 and was originally set for release this year before being delayed to its current date.

The Embracer earnings report not only provided a clearer release window for Tomb Raider: Catalyst but also indicated that Darksiders 4 and the next installment in the Kingdom Come series are expected to launch before the end of the 27/28 fiscal year. Given the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it’s no surprise that the company is keen to invest further in the franchise.
