Datamining Reveals Potential New DLC Characters for Marvel Tokon
Dataminers have potentially unveiled exciting details about the future of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, particularly for fans of the Fantastic Four. A prominent datamining group recently shared findings indicating that characters like Doctor Strange, Wasp, Gambit, The Thing, and Daredevil are referenced in the game’s files. Additionally, an image circulating online highlights mentions of Mr. Fantastic, Human Torch, and Invisible Woman.
The dataminers also discovered references to Klyntar (the symbiote planet), Sanctum Sanctorum, and Japan as possible stages. Klyntar could be associated with Venom or Carnage, who is already part of the roster. Sanctum Sanctorum is likely to be a map for Doctor Strange, while Japan might connect to Peni Parker or other characters like Psylocke, depending on the continuity.
Fan reactions have been particularly positive towards Daredevil, who has surprisingly never been featured in a major fighting game. Observant players have spotted Matt Murdock in the background of Tokon’s New York stage. There’s also considerable excitement surrounding the Fantastic Four, especially since Marvel Tokon is themed around teams of four, suggesting they could be released consecutively during one of the game’s seasonal updates.
Gambit’s inclusion is a slick move, as the character has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to recent media like X-Men ’97 and his appearances in Deadpool and Wolverine. Wasp’s addition is unexpected, especially considering the challenges tiny characters often bring to fighting games.
However, it’s important to note that just because these characters are found in the game’s files doesn’t guarantee their inclusion in the final version. Even if they do make it in, it could take years for them to appear. For instance, data leaks for Guilty Gear Strive hinted at Jam Kuradoberi’s eventual addition, but she didn’t join the roster until five years after the game launched.
We already know that the first DLC character for Marvel Tokon will be Phoenix Cyclops. Players can expect him to unleash devastating Optic Blasts and the cosmic flames of the Phoenix Force this Fall. He’s the first of four characters set to join the game in its inaugural year, along with a new stage. Many fans speculate that the other three unannounced characters may have been hinted at in a recent tie-in comic featuring Silver Surfer, Nova, and Thor.
Despite a rocky launch, Marvel Tokon has seen some improvements, with a patch released to address performance issues on PC. While many users still report problems, it’s a step forward. The core gameplay has started to win over hardcore players who initially found it too simplistic or slow. The game has also garnered the second-highest number of registrants for this weekend’s major fighting game tournament, CEO, marking its competitive debut.
Bad PC port, Hulk no like.
