Check Out Instagram’s Redesigned Logo
Instagram has rolled out a new wordmark, stepping away from the iconic cursive style that has defined its look for the past decade. The fresh design is an odd blend of half-cursive and half-print, and it’s arguably less readable than what came before. Seriously, it looks like it says “Instagzam,” doesn’t it?
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, shared the news on his account, stating, “The wordmark at the top of the app hasn’t changed in 10 years, so it was time for a refresh. Cleaner and more modern, with references to the original and the simplicity and craft that’s always made it Instagram.”
Mosseri seems to anticipate mixed reactions to this change, as he also shared it on his Threads account to gauge the feedback. Many users on both platforms have pointed out that the new version resembles “Instagzam,” but the overall reactions are a bit of a mixed bag. Some users are lamenting the loss of the beloved cursive wordmark, while others—many of whom seem to be bots—are flooding the comments with positive vibes and emoji overload.
I’m not convinced it carries the same appeal, but I’ll let you all decide for yourselves.
