Lego is set to release the Super Mario figures that fans have eagerly anticipated.

Six years after unveiling the initial wave of Lego Super Mario sets, Nintendo and The Lego Group are finally delivering what fans have been eagerly anticipating: Super Mario minifigures. Back in March, they teased the first of these figures, showcasing the iconic plumber Mario emerging from a Warp Pipe in a classic minifigure style, though with a head that strays from the typical cylindrical Lego design.

The new line of Lego Super Mario minifigures is set to launch in 2027, as indicated in the teaser.

So far, the Lego Super Mario figure lineup has mainly featured designs inspired by the Interactive Lego Mario toys, which depict Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and others in a squat, blocky aesthetic. These figures resemble two Super Mario Question Blocks stacked together, deviating from the traditional Lego figure shape. Additionally, Lego and Nintendo have collaborated on larger builds, including a brick-built Mario that comes with a standard Mario Kart vehicle and a pixel-art rendition of Mario and Yoshi.

The introduction of these minifigures opens up exciting new possibilities for Lego Super Mario. If the leaks from the Bricktap Discord server hold true, Mario will be joined by a Luigi minifigure, a “BigFig” version of Bowser, and a Yoshi minifigure with a removable shell, allowing another minifig to ride on its back. In recent years, Lego has also rolled out brick-based versions of Wario, Captain Toad, Bowser Jr., and Boo, along with numerous classic Super Mario enemies crafted in brick form.

While Nintendo and Lego have previously released minifigure versions of characters from Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda, the introduction of Mario and his friends as minifigures marks a new venture for the toy maker.

This year has been particularly active for collaborations between Nintendo and Lego. In 2026, they teamed up on a Lego Donkey Kong arcade machine set, a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Final Battle Lego set, and Lego’s Mario Kart Luigi and Mach 8 set. Additionally, Lego Pokémon has seen a significant release, with over 20 sets launched in 2026.
