Spider-Man: Brand New Day Surpasses $2 Billion at the Box Office, Achieving Second-Fastest Milestone

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has hit a significant milestone, raking in over $2 billion at the global box office in under three weeks. This makes it the second-fastest film to reach that figure, following another Marvel blockbuster, and places it among just eight films to ever achieve this feat.

Since its debut on July 31, Brand New Day has earned $785 million in the U.S. and $1.236 billion internationally. Remarkably, it crossed the $1 billion mark just six days after its release.

With this achievement, Spider-Man: Brand New Day joins an elite list that includes iconic titles like Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Ne Zha 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Titanic. The original Avatar still holds the record for the highest grossing film in this group, with a staggering $2.9 billion.

The previous Spider-Man installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, came close to the $2 billion mark, finishing its run with $1.9 billion in 2019. Notably, No Way Home did not release in China, which could have pushed its total over the threshold.

Brand New Day launched with an impressive $360 million in domestic earnings, marking the biggest opening weekend ever in the U.S. Its global opening of $927 million is the second-highest in history, trailing only Avengers: Endgame’s $1.22 billion. The film received a boost in its second week thanks to an IMAX release and has shattered multiple records since.

The success of films like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Toy Story 5 is propelling this year’s domestic box office toward a historic $10 billion, the first time since before the pandemic. This success is a much-needed win for Disney, which has faced recent box office challenges with other releases.

Currently, Spider-Man: Brand New Day ranks as the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S., just behind No Way Home. The latest Spider-Man adventure is on track to quickly outpace its predecessor and may even surpass Endgame’s domestic total before its theatrical run concludes. However, it still has a way to go to claim the top spot at the domestic box office, currently held by The Force Awakens, which grossed $936 million in the U.S.

And I ain’t talking about Miles Morales.
