New RPG Enlists Resident Evil Requiem Star Following Jennifer English’s Departure from Expedition 33
Tides of Annihilation is an upcoming action RPG inspired by Arthurian legends. Initially, Jennifer English, known for her role in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, was set to lead the project. However, in July, Eclipse Glow Games announced that she would be stepping back due to “personal health reasons.” Just a month later, the studio has found a new lead, and it’s someone fans will recognize.
Angela Sant’Albano, who portrayed Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, will be taking over for English in Tides of Annihilation. Her performance in Requiem quickly made it a contender for the 2026 Game of the Year award. “I want people who haven’t seen themselves as a hero to look to Grace and finally think ‘Wow, that’s me.’ We all have a monster in our life in one way or another, even if it’s not a zombie chasing us down a hallway,” Sant’Albano shared earlier this year about her breakout role.
Gameplay footage for Tides of Annihilation has been circulating online recently, possibly showcasing a demo that will be available at Gamescom next week. Motion-capture actor Jennifer Prime shared a clip on her X account, which someone reposted with the comment, “Grace Ashcroft is her new VA btw!” Prime confirmed this, responding with “Yep!!!.”
As of now, Eclipse Glow Games has not revealed who will be replacing English. Their latest update on X still reflects the July announcement regarding her departure, which also stated that English “will continue to support the project in an advisory role.”
Tides of Annihilation presents itself as an action RPG reminiscent of a blend between a Soulslike and Final Fantasy 16. The story follows Gwendolyn as she navigates the ruins of a post-apocalyptic London in search of the Holy Grail and her lost sister, encountering knights inspired by Arthurian legends along her journey. While a release date is yet to be announced, the game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
