GTA 6 Gameplay and Map Details Appear to Have Leaked Before Major Netflix Announcement

New gameplay footage that looks to be from the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 has surfaced online, creating quite a buzz. While its authenticity isn’t fully verified, it appears genuine and may be linked to a larger hack related to the absence of physical copies at launch.

On August 18, a site called Cyberleek began sharing what seems to be leaked gameplay clips of GTA 6, along with images claiming to show the complete map of the game.

Much of this content is already being scrubbed from the internet. When attempting to view one of the leaked map images, I encountered an error page. Additionally, several video uploads on social media have been taken down due to copyright claims, likely indicating that the publisher is actively pursuing these removals, which lends credence to their authenticity.

Across social media platforms, users are sharing the alleged gameplay footage. Some clips feature a character named Jason at home, exploring his surroundings, and even playing basketball. Another segment depicts a car colliding with a van on a sunny highway, leading to a brawl between the drivers. The combat in this scene bears a resemblance to that found in Red Dead Redemption II.

In one of the videos, the track “Impact” by SG Lewis, Robyn, and Channel Tres plays on the radio just before the driver exits the vehicle. Comments on YouTube are already buzzing about this leak.

While some of the leaked clips appear legitimate, there’s also a wave of AI-generated content and old, debunked footage being circulated as part of this leak. I’ve noticed clips from a previous leak in 2022 being shared as well. It was nearly four years ago that Rockstar Games experienced a significant data breach, resulting in the leak of early development footage. The new clips, if authentic, seem to come from a more advanced build, but we have no way of knowing when this gameplay was recorded, and it likely originates from an unfinished version of GTA 6 not intended for public viewing.

On the Cyberleek site, the individual behind the leak has posted a detailed manifesto, seemingly framing the leaked gameplay as a response to publishers pushing digital-only preorders and neglecting offline modes, among other grievances.

Inquiries have been made to Rockstar Games regarding the leaked gameplay and map images.
