New GTA 6 Map Leak Suggests Expansive Game World

Fans of Grand Theft Auto 6 are eagerly anticipating the details about Leonida, with some players even taking the initiative to create their own maps ahead of any official announcements. If the latest leak is accurate, we might already have a clear picture of Rockstar’s virtual Florida.

This leak is part of a broader wave of information that surfaced recently, revealing intriguing features like the ability to play basketball, advanced water physics, and a revamped wanted system. The group behind the leak, known as Cyberleek, has also shared an image that allegedly shows the complete GTA 6 map.

Many believe this map is legitimate, especially since Cyberleek has previously released new gameplay footage that seems too authentic to be fabricated, even with AI assistance. The clips, which include a scene where Jason gets into a random car accident leading to a highway brawl, have a casual feel that suggests they depict real gameplay, albeit from an unfinished version of the game.

Another factor supporting the leak’s credibility is its alignment with hints dropped by Rockstar in the last major update for GTA Online, which featured a high-stakes art heist. Two pieces of art in that update appear to resemble the shape of the newly leaked map. Additionally, the leaked map bears a striking resemblance to one created by dedicated fans who meticulously analyzed previous gameplay trailers.

A significant piece of evidence is that Take-Two, the publisher behind GTA 6, has started to remove some of the footage shared by Cyberleek. Such DMCA actions indicate that Take-Two is asserting ownership over the content, which adds weight to the leak’s authenticity.

The map reportedly consists of five main areas: Leonard County, Kelly County, Vice Dale County, Mariana County, and Lummox County. While the map features several icons, their specific meanings remain unclear.

Earlier this year, Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, mentioned to investors that the marketing for this open-world title would be characterized by its “creativity.” This could hint at an upcoming advertising campaign linked to Netflix, but a more fitting description might be an alternate reality game featuring hidden map clues.

We might receive official confirmation soon when the extended look at GTA 6 premieres on Netflix on November 27.
