GTA 6 Has Leaked Again — Gameplay Footage and the Full Leonida Map Are Out There
Just days before Rockstar’s official reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI, the internet has been thrown into chaos. On August 18, 2026, a group calling itself CYBERLEEK posted what appears to be genuine gameplay footage of GTA 6 alongside images of the full in-game map of Leonida — the Florida-inspired state where the game is set. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive responded within hours by issuing DMCA takedown notices across X, Streamable, Reddit, and YouTube — and the speed of those takedowns is being widely read as confirmation that the footage is authentic.
What the Leaked Footage Actually Shows
Two clips appear to be the genuine articles, with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier also confirming their legitimacy. The first shows protagonist Jason at a waterside home — gym equipment on the balcony, a jetski nearby — before he heads out into the world. The second clip is more action-packed, showing Jason driving along a sunny highway before crashing into a delivery van. The driver gets out, the confrontation escalates, and the brawl that follows has been noted for how closely it resembles the combat feel of Red Dead Redemption II — weighty, grounded, and reactive. The radio in the car can be heard playing the track “Impact” by SG Lewis, Robyn, and Channel Tres before Jason steps out.
Beyond the two confirmed clips, a full map image of Leonida has also been circulating, giving fans their clearest look yet at the game’s geography. Community trackers have already begun cross-referencing the map against details from previous trailers.
What’s Real and What’s Not — A Word of Warning
Here’s the critical caveat: the genuine leak has been buried under an enormous wave of AI-generated fakes, recycled footage from the 2022 hack, and outright scam videos riding the trending hashtag. Prominent insider NateTheHate has stated the real clips appear to be from a build that is over a year old — possibly from 2023 — meaning any specific mechanics or UI elements visible on screen may have changed since. CYBERLEEK published a manifesto framing the leak as a protest against the gaming industry’s shift away from physical media, though the group has not stated how the material was obtained. Rockstar and Take-Two have not issued any public statement beyond the takedowns. The official Netflix Extended Look for GTA 6 is expected later this month — and after this, it cannot come soon enough.
