GTA VI Continues to Unveil Secrets Before Gameplay Reveal

Clips that seem to showcase Grand Theft Auto VI have surfaced online, potentially revealing details about the game ahead of Rockstar Games’ in-depth presentation set to debut on Netflix next week, along with its highly anticipated release in November.

I’ve come across three clips that appear to highlight the game, although two have been taken down from the site I found them on due to copyright issues. The first clip (now removed) featured a tranquil moment with Jason Duval, one of the game’s protagonists, casually shooting hoops. The second clip (also removed) showcased the gritty gameplay typical of the GTA series, including Duval using a wrench against an NPC and reintroducing the infamous six-star Wanted system.

The third clip, which is still available, depicts Duval driving at night, engaging in some brawling, using a taser, and stealing a truck. It then transitions to what looks like a cutscene from another part of the game during the day.

These videos were marked by a group or individual calling themselves “CyberLeek.” The third clip includes a promotion for viewers to purchase a CyberLeek cryptocurrency, a QR code, links to dubious CyberLeek websites, and a tagline stating “NO PHYSICAL DISCS? THEN MORE LEEKS!”, seemingly poking fun at Rockstar’s choice to not release GTA VI on physical media.

This isn’t the first instance of GTA VI footage leaking. Back in 2022, 90 videos made their way online well before the game’s official announcement over a year later, which itself was leaked, prompting Rockstar to release the first trailer a day ahead of schedule. A teenager involved in leaking those 90 videos received a life sentence in a secure hospital. Earlier this year, Rockstar confirmed that it had experienced a data breach through a third-party provider but assured that it would have “no impact on our organization or our players.”

Rockstar and its parent company did not respond to requests for comments. The GTA VI “extended look” is set to premiere on Netflix on August 27th at 3 PM ET and will also be available for streaming on YouTube at 9 PM ET. The game is priced at $79.99 and is slated for release on November 19th, with many in the industry opting to launch their major titles earlier in the year to avoid the November rush.
