GTA 6 Leaks Intensify as Rockstar Games Goes Silent for 48 Hours

On Tuesday afternoon, footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaked online, attributed to a group known as Cyberleek. Since then, Rockstar Games has been completely silent across all platforms, while fans eagerly discuss and dissect the gameplay leaks.

On August 20 at 10 a.m. EST, the Rockstar Games Twitter account was notably inactive. This is unusual, as the account typically shares updates at that time on Tuesdays. A quick scroll through previous months reveals a consistent pattern, leading fans to joke in the comments about their desire for more GTA 6 news, only to receive updates about GTA Online events or Red Dead Online bonuses instead. However, following the recent leaks, Rockstar has not posted anything on Twitter, with the last update being about bonus cash and XP in certain Red Dead Online missions.

This silence extends to Rockstar’s other social media accounts, including their official Instagram and Discord server. Additionally, the newswire section on the Rockstar Games website hasn’t seen any updates since August 14. For the past 48 hours, there has been no communication from Rockstar regarding the leaks, nor have they engaged with fans or the press about the situation. Attempts to reach out to Rockstar have gone unanswered.

It’s not surprising that Rockstar has chosen to remain quiet during this time. The company, along with Take-Two Interactive, is likely focused on managing the fallout from the ongoing GTA 6 leaks. Cyberleek shared another clip this morning, featuring the word “leak” written in bullets on a wall, and has teased more GTA 6 footage to come. They’ve even included a clip from a cutscene where a character claims to be untraceable due to using a VPN, further taunting Rockstar.

For Rockstar, this is a challenging situation, and it’s understandable that promoting Red Dead Online or GTA Online events isn’t a priority right now. With the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 set for November, they will eventually need to resume communication. However, it remains uncertain when they will break their silence and what their first message to fans will entail following these leaks.
