Mega Evolution – Delta Reign Set to Launch for Pokémon TCG This November
The Pokémon Company has unveiled exciting details about a new Rayquaza-themed set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, titled Mega Evolution — Delta Reign, which is set to launch on November 6.
The star of Delta Reign is Mega Rayquaza, making its return to the Pokémon TCG for the first time since the XY — Ancient Origins expansion in 2015. This new expansion will feature over 135 cards, including four Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, six Pokémon ex, and six Stadium cards that create three Legendary Stadiums. Additionally, there will be 14 illustration rare Pokémon, 17 ultra rare Pokémon and Trainer cards, along with six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards. The Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards will showcase Rayquaza, Golurk, Malamar, and Golisopod, with one standout card featuring an embroidered illustration by artist Tayu.
Legendary Stadiums are a fresh addition in Delta Reign, created by pairing two Stadium cards to form an extended artwork when placed side by side. Booster packs that include a Legendary Stadium will contain both halves needed to complete this new feature. Players can find Delta Reign cards in booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes.
While pre-orders for Delta Reign cards aren’t available yet, fans will have a chance to experience the new set before its official release. Retailers hosting pre-release tournaments will have the cards ready for play starting October 24. Additionally, Delta Reign will be available digitally on Pokémon TCG Live beginning November 5.
Mega Evolution — Delta Reign is the latest in a series of Rayquaza-themed announcements. In July, the Pokémon TCG Pocket received the Ruler of the Skies expansion, also centered around the legendary Pokémon. Meanwhile, speculation continues about potential modern ports of Pokémon Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire. The third generation of Pokémon games, which introduced Rayquaza, remains highly regarded even after two decades. Although Nintendo remade Ruby and Sapphire for the 3DS in 2014, neither the remakes nor the original versions are accessible on current platforms.
